Vinegar will help with hard water stains and calcium deposits. Fill the tub with hot water and pour in generous amounts of vinegar and let it set overnight. The next morning you will want to drain the water and rinse the tub. You should notice that the stains are less noticeable after doing this.

There are rust and stain remover products on the market that will help remove some of the stains that are stubborn and are harder to remove. These harsh chemicals should be used in a well ventilated area so that you don't inhale a lot of the fumes. Most of these cleaners will take most of the stains out and you will notice a huge difference, but some stubborn stains just will not be able to get cleaned no matter what way you try to clean it.
