How to Make Your Small Bedroom Look Big? - DIY Tricks

If you have a smaller bedroom, then you'll want to be creative in order to make the best out of your space. By following a few simple principles, you can easily transform your bedroom from a cramped mess to a cozy sanctuary.

Bed

A bed with metal frame or a divan with a headboard and no footboard has clean open lines that would make small rooms look bigger. You may also want to buy a bed that comes with drawers underneath to give you more storage. But if you canĂ¢€™t find one, you may want to purchase bed risers instead to give you an extra six inches of storage space under the bed and bed skirt.

Simple bed furnishing schemes will also do the trick. Instead of choosing large and crazy patterns that will make your bed look like a concession stand at a soccer game, try some solid colors. Natural shades will make your room look bigger.

Vertical Space

Use as many vertical spaces as possible. Purchase dressers taller than normal. If you have proper place for your belongings the less cluttered your room will appear. Entertainment centers or wardrobes also add a great visual interest and give more vertical storage spaces compared to dressers.

Also consider narrow but tall lingerie dressers. They are a good alternatives to bed side tables because they take up the same amount of floor space while giving you more space for your personal items.

Reflections

Light colors will also make any room look bigger. But you can use dark colors as accents. Mirrors are also an excellent addition to make a room appear that it has more floor space. But do not overuse mirrors in your bedroom. One or two mirrors will do. Place them properly to reflect natural light, making most of your room's size and highlight the open spaces.

Instead of floor lamps, consider using small lamps to free up the extra floor space. The bigger a room will appear if there are more sources of light.

Magic Tricks

Get rid of clutter in your room as much as possible using pretty baskets. Also use a table skirt to create a hidden space for all your magazines and books. You may also want to place a box at the bottom of your closet where you could place all your items that you will no longer need and let them go or discard them after six months - Jesse Cook
